1. Introduction

Tournament Scan (the "Service") is a web service for creating and sharing tournament brackets. This policy explains what information the Service collects and how it is handled.

This policy is published in Japanese and English only. It applies to you even if you use the Service in another language.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — the name, email address, and profile image URL we receive from Google when you sign in with a Google account. We never receive your password.
  • Information entered by organizers and collaborators — tournament names, dates, block structure, participant names, match results, and uploaded bracket images.
  • Payment information — payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store card numbers; we keep only the payment identifier, amount, and status.
  • Usage data — access timestamps, IP address, user agent, and cookies.

3. How we use it

  • Providing the Service (creating, displaying, and sharing brackets, and updating results in real time)
  • Processing payments for the pass and tracking its expiry
  • Reading bracket structure from uploaded images (Section 5)
  • Preventing abuse and enforcing usage limits
  • Handling reports and investigating violations of the Terms
  • Serving advertising (Section 6)

4. If your name appears as a participant

Participant names are entered by the tournament organizer or their collaborators. Participants do not need an account, and the Service does not collect information from participants directly.

In a public tournament, participant names and match results are visible to anyone.

If you want your name removed or corrected, please contact the tournament organizer first. If you cannot reach them, or they do not respond, use the report form on the tournament page or the contact address at the end of this policy.

5. Image analysis

Uploaded bracket images are sent to the Claude API operated by Anthropic PBC in order to read their structure (matchups and rounds).

Results always pass through a review-and-correct screen before they are saved. Nothing is saved automatically from the analysis alone.

The uploaded images themselves are stored in Cloudflare R2.

6. Advertising

The Service displays Google AdSense advertising on the public tournament list and on viewing pages of tournaments that do not have an active pass.

Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads).

If you access the Service from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent to advertising and measurement cookies through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP). If you decline, you will see non-personalized advertising instead. You can change your choice at any time.

If you access the Service from certain U.S. states, the same mechanism provides the choices required regarding the "sale" and "sharing" of personal information.

7. Sharing and processors

We do not share your information with third parties except as required by law. We do rely on the following processors to operate the Service:

  • Google LLC — sign-in, advertising, and consent management
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, database, and image storage
  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing
  • Anthropic PBC — image analysis

8. Retention

Tournament data is retained until the organizer deletes it. The public tournament list has a listing period (30 days after a tournament finishes, 90 days for upcoming and ongoing ones), but this only removes it from the list — the data is not deleted and the URL keeps working.

To have your account and its associated data deleted, contact us at the address below.

9. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction on the use of the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at the address below.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR additionally give you the right to data portability, to restrict processing, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

10. Cookies

The Service uses cookies to keep you signed in. These are necessary for the Service to function; if you block them you will not be able to sign in.

We also use a cookie to remember the display language you select, so that it carries over to your next visit. It is written only when you switch languages and is not used to identify you.

For advertising cookies, see Section 6.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated text and its revision date on this page.
